Join us for a special Trunk Show with Oblik Atelier.
We’re thrilled to welcome Oblik Atelier.
A word from Mia, the designer:
My name is Mia, and I am the creator of Oblik Atelier. I chose to name my studio Oblik, rather than Mia Hebib jewelry, because this expression is not just about me. Rather, it’s about a process to create audacious and bold shapes that conform and compliment the body and space. My studio is intimate in nature as I produce each piece, and jewelry is as much about the function, as it is about the personal connection, to the jewelry, to the people that wear it and the dialogue we establish.
My work is transforming metal, inherently rigid and hard material, into fluid and elegant wearable jewelry, and sculpture. Each hand-crafted piece, while abstract in nature, draws from observing the shapes around me found in architecture, urban and natural detritus, and human interactions. I am curious about the relationship of what my mind perceives and what my hands can produce. “Oblik Atelier” means “form studio”, echoing my ongoing dialogue revolving around sinuous shapes that conform and compliment the human body.
I use a process of forming and forging with the most important tool, my hands, alongside hammers, pliers and mandrels. Each piece is formed and shaped by hand using fundamental jewelry techniques, like sawing, bending, forming, soldering and polishing. This process means that each piece, though similarly reproduced, retains its own uniqueness, as metal has a will of its own and I am an imperfect machine.
Ultimately, every person that recognizes the creator inside themselves would own a Oblik Atelier piece.
