Women's Tailored Blazers and Jackets in Linen, Wool, and Cotton

A blazer or jacket is usually the last item of clothing a woman puts on, and it’s the one thing that can decide how the rest of the day goes. Shoulders sit square, the posture is right, and what felt unmanageable at eight in the morning is something she can walk into by nine. Each women's tailored blazer and jacket Christine cuts to stand on its own. Some have a matching trouser, vest, or skirt which can be found in the suiting collection, so a wool blazer bought in the Spring can turn into a matching set seasons later if desired. Other jackets were never designed to match. An oversized statement jacket in an unexpected cut or print is the whole point of a mix-and-match capsule wardrobe that offers more than one option to play with when getting dressed.

Linen gets softer the more it’s worn, and this is why we love to keep linen blazers, both long and short, in rotation throughout the year. It works as a lightweight jacket during warmer weather well past Labor Day, and through the colder months it can be worn as a layering piece. Wool isn’t rigid, but can still hold a shoulder shape through the life of the garment. Our cotton twill blazers are structured enough for business casual days at the office, yet relaxed enough for an ordinary weekend when you still want to feel comfortable and look put together.

The entire Christine Alcalay collection, including the women's blazers, is sewn in small runs in NYC by people paid a fair wage. Quantities are matched to real demand rather than guessing, with excess fabric at the end of a run repurposed for accessories or other goods. You can find matching trousers and skirts made the same way, in the same factories, a few miles from the Brooklyn studio where they were first sketched.
